A Holistic Education
At Ewha Srang School, students receive a values-driven, holistic education. We believe that a quality education is the key to breaking the cycle of poverty, and we balance rigorous academics with arts, sports, technology, and character development to prepare our students for success in Cambodia and beyond.
The Cambodian Education System
Cambodia's education system follows a 6+3+3 structure, with six years of primary education, three years of lower secondary education, and three years of upper secondary education. The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport (MoEYS) oversees the system, which runs from November to August each academic year.
Ewha Srang School provides quality education at the primary level, preparing students to succeed in their secondary education and beyond.
Pre-School Education Optional
For children ages 3-5. While optional, preschool education is increasingly recognized as vital for early childhood development. Approximately 70% of 5-year-olds are now enrolled in preschool programs.
Primary Education Grades 1-6
For children ages 6-11. Primary education forms the foundation of a child's academic journey. This is where Ewha Srang School focuses its efforts, providing quality education to children in rural Cambodia.
Lower Secondary Education Grades 7-9
For students ages 12-14. Lower secondary education is compulsory and free. Students complete this phase with the Grade 9 National Examination.
Upper Secondary Education Grades 10-12
For students ages 15-17. This phase prepares students for higher education or vocational training. It concludes with the Grade 12 National Examination (Bac II), required for university admission.
Higher Education
Universities, institutes, and vocational training centers offer various programs for students who complete their secondary education. Cambodia is working to expand access to tertiary education across the country.
Education in Cambodia: The Numbers
While Cambodia has made significant progress in education, challenges remain, particularly in rural areas like Kampong Speu Province where Ewha Srang School is located.
